NB600 Series - How do I enable Wireless Security?

By default, this Wireless Modem/Router does not have Wireless Security enabled.
You can enable this by following the below steps:

  1. Open your Web Browser (such as Internet Explorer), and enter the following numbers into the Address Bar:
    192.168.1.1
If asked to login, the default username and password is "admin" and "admin" without the quotes.
  2. Click on Wireless LAN on the left.
  3. Select the type of Wireless Security you want from the "Security Mode" drop-down box.
WEP Encryption is the basic Wireless Security choice, and will work with most, if not all wireless devices.
WPA Pre-Shared Key is an advanced Wireless Security choice, and is more secure than WEP Encryption. However, some old wireless devices may not support WPA Pre-Shared Key.
If you are unsure of which type of security to choose, you can choose WEP Encryption, and run through this guide again later if you want to try WPA Pre-Shared Key.
  4. After choosing your type, follow these steps for configuring your Wireless Security:

 WEP Encryption

 WPA-PSK

Change the following options:

o WEP Encryption: 64 bit(5 characters or 10 digits)

o Key Format: HEX

o Key 1: Enter your security key here. Your key must be 10 digits in length and can only contain the letters A-F, and the numbers 0-9.

For Example: A1B2C3D4E5

 Change the following options:

o WPA Algorithms: TKIP

o WPA Shared Key: Enter your security key here. Your key can contain any characters, and needs to be between 8 and 63 characters in length.

For Example: ah$hjt33q

o Group Key Renewal: 3600

Make a note of the security key that you have entered. After following the above steps for your chosen Wireless Security type, press the Save button.
The modem will now save the new Wireless Settings, and your wireless connection from your computer may be disconnected.
